How hard could it be to write a haiku about this François Boucher drawing?
According to poet Jim Natal, who collaborated with our drawings curator Stephanie Schrader to write haiku about Old Master drawings, very:
When I put together a poetry collection, there’s always one that just drives you crazy. The drawing that drove us all crazy was the Boucher. It was so hard to capture what was happening in 17 syllables. Eventually we got it, but it took a lot tries.
